Reserva info: Matured for extra smoothness, this silky and elegant Faustino wine complements red and cooked meat dishes, especially roast lamb and lamb chops, poultry with spicy sauces and mild cheeses.Faustino's vineyards are located in the upper part of Rioja Alavesa, Northern Spain, and enjoy the best geographical conditions and climate to produce the highest quality wines: short, hard winters, with lime clay soil, land characterised by foothills, gorges and hillsides, neither too much nor too little sunlight - and finally, enjoying an altitude of between 400 and 600 metres.
Faustino I
Gran Reserva info: One of the classic producers of Rioja Gran Reserva is still crafting proud examples from the traditionalist school. The nose is of mushrooms, old barrels, and dried and concentrated fruits-- the smells that only time in a cellar can provide. The mouth is far more fruity, showing red and bing cherries and cranberries, but the character of barrel aging that defines Gran Reserva remains, alongside herbal notes of green tobacco, herbs, and cardamom. Drink now or over the next several years.
